What made you want to open a café in upstate New York?

We spent many weekends in Bolton Landing visiting my parents and enjoying their current restaurant, The Huddle, and Lake George. We wanted to work unvoiced and provide capital quality bagels and coffee bean upstate because it was something Bolton Landing lacked. I dreamt of walking through town and down to the lake with an frost coffee in my hand, and there was very no way of doing that before we opened Bear ‘s Cup.

We chose upstate New York because my family’s restaurant is on the lapp clean. Having their digest was something we couldn’t have managed without. We besides fell in love with the charming vibration of summer on Lake George. There’s in truth nothing like it.

How is it working with your husband?

Amazing. He ‘s the hardest running, most impressive, integrity-filled person I know, and freaks me out daily with his cold work ethic and cognition. He spends a batch of time eruditeness and research products, recipes and techniques, and he would never compromise on quality. I respect that so much. I think we ‘re a bang-up match because we have opposite strengths in the occupation. I’m largely front of house, he ‘s back of house, and we wouldn’t trade working together for anything .

On the weekends, do n’t talk to us, because we’re slammed at the denounce. On weekdays, we normally get at least one day of rest where the workshop is closed, and we’ll take our son, Teddy, to the park or do something else cute as a kin. Louis works overnight a set, so find quality time together on working days can be catchy. Owning your own business is no joke to begin with. Once you add in our opposite schedules, it ‘s ruffianly, but we love what we do and we ‘re building something we believe in wholeheartedly for the future of our family .

Tell me about “The 201” sandwich.

The “ 201 ” is a nod to my hometown ‘s area code. It ‘s two fry eggs, two slices of Taylor ham, and melted cheddar on your choice of bagel ( pro-tip : get it on an everything bagel ). I grew up getting Taylor overact, testis and tall mallow ( that should be said all as one long bible ) sandwiches from Krauszer ‘s Food Stores in Oakland a few mornings each week .

We had been putting orders together for her at least once a week for over a year when she mentioned us on her prove for the beginning clock time. All of a sudden, calls and emails started coming in like wildfire and we were wondering what was going on. When we realized she mentioned us on her display, we were so grateful for the shoutout. A few days former, she asked Louis and me to be on the usher to personally demonstrate some bagel tips and tricks. That was reasonably cool besides .
