John Reid ( behave 9 September 1949 ) is a scots erstwhile music director, known for being the coach and early lover of singer Elton John, arsenic well as for managing the british rock band Queen.

Reid was born in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland, the son of John Reid, a welder, and Betty, a workshop worker. aside from three years in New Zealand, he was brought up in the Gallowhill zone of Paisley.
